Is Kenyan Fuel Really “Bad” — Or Are Our Cars Just Not Built for It?

Fuel quality debates are everywhere — Shell vs Rubis vs Total — but the truth is more complicated.

Most fuel sold locally meets required standards, yet modern imported cars are very sensitive. High-pressure injectors and small turbo engines react quickly to dirt, moisture, or inconsistent storage at stations.

Sometimes the issue isn’t the fuel itself, but:
✔️ Dirty fuel filters
✔️ Weak fuel pumps
✔️ Driving long with a near-empty tank

Older engines forgive small problems. Newer engines don’t.

👉 Instead of chasing fuel brands only, focus on regular filter changes and buying from busy stations where fuel turnover is high.
